Capturing the lost energy from buildings and using it to grow plants in greenhouses on the city's rooftops, is that something you're interested in? This is the objective of the European project GROOF (Greenhouses to reduce CO2 on Roofs), in which the Smart City Institute is a partner. While relocating part of the food production, the energy savings achieved make it possible to limit the carbon impact of the building and the greenhouse.

Are you interested in building a roof-top greenhouse? Are you wondering about the relevance and feasibility of such a project? If so, the GROOF team is looking forward to seeing you on 2 March for a webinar entitled: "Enhancing your building with a roof-top greenhouse, it's possible" organised in the framework of Batibouw, the Belgian construction and renovation fair.

Program of this webinar

  • The CDEC (Council for the Economic Development of Construction) and the IFSB (Building Sector Training Institute) will present their knowledge acquired through this project in terms of the technical feasibility of the construction of a roof-top greenhouse and the energy inputs it can generate.
  • The CSTB (Scientific and Technical Centre for Building), partner of GROOF, will present the best practice guide for the installation of roof-top greenhouses, currently prepared by the project partners, the result of 3 years of experience through a state of the art, an analysis of Groof's pilot projects and the support of 10 roof-top greenhouse projects. You will discover the elements for an optimal construction of roof-top greenhouses, which is sustainable in economic, energy and production terms.

NB : The presentation will be held in French but questions can be asked in English.
