About research at the SCI
Presentation by Nathalie Crutzen, Founder and Academic Director of the Smart City Institute (in French).
Among its various missions , and as an academic institute, the Smart City Institute (SCI) pays specific attention to research focused on the management of sustainable and smart territories.
The institute has a team of researchers with diverse and complementary profiles - research fellows, doctoral students, post-doctoral researchers and senior researchers - both Belgian and international - each developing their own specific expertise, under the supervision of Professor Nathalie Crutzen, Academic Director of the institute.
Presentation by Nathalie Crutzen, Founder and Academic Director of the Smart City Institute (in French).
The Smart City Institute's expertise is centred on two complementary areas: on the one hand, it conducts fundamental research (via scientific publications or research reports), and on the other hand, more applied missions (leading to the publication of practical guides, barometers, methodological notes or the organisation of training or awareness-raising activities for local stakeholders).
These 2 fields are in fact complementary since all the results from fundamental research provide inputs for applied research, by highlighting themes and trends that interest territorial actors (territories, companies, associations, etc.) in a concrete manner.
