To carry out its research, awareness, training and coaching activities, the Smart City Institute (SCI) can count on the support of its partners. The SCI is based on an original partnership between a University (ULiège) and its School of Management (HEC Liège), private companies and the Walloon Region.

The Walloon Region actively supports the institute under its Digital Wallonia program, and more specifically through its "Smart Region" axis, which acts as a support framework to strengthen the coherence, acceleration and visibility of Smart City projects carried out at the scale of the 262 Walloon cities and municipalities. As part of this dynamic, the SCI has been acting as the official academic reference for the “Smart Region” since 2016.

FEDER wall The institute is also one of the stakeholders in the Wal-e-Cities project (European ERDF funding) to support the development of Smart Cities initiatives throughout Wallonia.

groof2 The SCI is also invested in "GROOF" (European funding INTERREG-NWE), an innovative project aimed at reducing CO2 emissions through the installation of rooftop greenhouses.
